Meet the Growing Room of Columbus’ Leadership Team
Executive Director of Growing Room of Columbus
Kim grew up in Columbus Ga. After completing high school and earning a scholarship to CVCC, she completed two years there and enrolled at Columbus Technical college where she earned an Early Childhood and Development certificate. She ultimately transferred to the University of Phoenix, where she earned her Bachelors of Science and Education.
Kim started her career at the Original Growing Room when she was a 17 year old, young mother and a part-time parapro for a K3 class.
She knew early on that she wanted to focus on a career that allowed her to invest her time and efforts in educating children. Kim saw an opportunity for growth within the company and decided to further her career and become a K3 Lead teacher for Growing Room Too when it opened.
While at Growing Too in the K3 room, Kim continued to pursue her goals and teaching dreams. While in pursuit of her goals Kim managed to meet her husband, Jason, got married, and was blessed to become a step mother and a new mom for the second time.
After having had success in the K3 classroom as the lead, Kim was told she was natural in the classroom as a lead teacher and she should consider moving up. From there, her prior experience and customer service skills led to her promotion to Assistant Director, and then Senior Director.
Three years after Kim was promoted to Senior Director of Growing Room Too, Kim was asked if she would be interested in helping develop a partnership with a local church and help manage their Mother’s Morning Out program and work with the church staff full time. While working at the church, Kim was blessed yet again, and found out she was going to be a new mom for a third time.
After being with the church for three years, Growing Room had yet another career opportunity for Kim. Growing Room was venturing into the world of Corporate childcare Management. Growing Room had been asked to manage a corporate preschool in town. Kim eagerly accepted the Senior Director role at one of the corporate locations. After being at the corporate center for about two years, Kim was shocked to find out that she in fact would be welcoming one more member to her family. This completed her family once and for all, with four sons of her own, a step daughter, and a husband her hands were more than full.
After an 8 year departure from Growing Room, Kim firmly believes that God had a plan for her. In 2016 Kim added her family back to the Growing Room family tree and planted her roots firmly back in the ground. She became the Senior Director for the Growing Room Christian Academy. Her opportunities haven’t stopped since. After only being back for two years, Kim was asked to become a part of the Growing Room Franchise team and an Executive Director for all three Growing Rooms In Columbus.
In the end, looking back, Kim says she could have never imagined that she would be where she is at this point in her life. A wife with four sons, a step daughter, one fur baby and a successful career woman, doing what she set out to do when she was just 17 years old.
